MET for the Pelvis and Sacrum (Part 3)

Arthrokinematic dysfunctions of the Lumbo-sacral,Sacroliliac, and Iliosacral joints, and subluxations ofthe pelvis, can cause profound functional and maladaptive disturbances, and, often, are accompanied by extremely painful musculoskeletal? and neurologic syndromes.

Unfortunately for the person who suffers from these conditions, such impairments are frequently overlooked or misdiagnosed. Perhaps more
unfortunate is that there are not enough therapists who have been adequately trained to manage these cases. As a result, many of these patients will juggle multiple therapies and therapists, sometimes for years, in an attempt to control the symptoms without the cause ever being treated.
Now imagine that you are able to help them. The concepts and techniques presented in this course will empower you to understand, authoritatively diagnose, and effectively treat these troubling conditions.

It is worth noting that much of the current understanding of pelvi-sacral biomechanics was developed by the originators of MET, with the first applications of MET being developed to treat dysfunctions of the pelvis and sacrum. Now you have an opportunity to learn these important concepts and powerful techniques right from the source, and to take your practice to the next level.

    Course Objectives
? Anatomy and biomechanics review for the pelvis and sacrum.
? Provide detailed protocols for evaluating the pelvis and sacrum, including the rationale, and those easy to miss details that make the difference between being merely proficient and being an expert.
? Provide detailed protocols for treating subluxations of the pelvis, and the arthrokinematic dysfunctions of the lumbosacral, sacroiliac, and iliosacral joints.

Muscle Energy Technique for the Upper and Lower Extremities (Part 4)

We are pleased to be offering Dr. Mitchell’s “Muscle Energy Technique for the Upper and Lower Extremities” seminar. Muscle Energy for the Extremities focuses on manipulable dysfunctions of the joints of the lower and upper limbs.

Abnormalities of joint range-of-motion ? both restriction and hypermobility ? are addressed with specifically selected Muscle Energy Techniques which are appropriate to the specific cause of the abnormality. Muscle length and strength issues, such as hypertonus, contracture or fibrosis, weakness, or reflex inhibition impact range-ofmotion,both in terms of flexibility and stability.

Assessing these issues and treating them with specific techniques are part of the Muscle Energy approach to managing dysfunctions of the limbs,
from the sternoclavicular to the intertarsal articulations.

In this seminar, wel will review the anatomy, physiology, and arthrokinematics of the upper and lower extremities prior to presenting the
    evaluation protocols and treatment procedures.

    Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:
? Quantitatively assess relevant ranges of motion of any extremity joint and detect manipulable abnormalities.
? Compare relevant muscle strengths and reflex timing.
? Use isokinetic Muscle Energy procedures to restore functional strength and coordination.
? Appropriately use of isolytic Muscle Energy technique to restore range-of-motion to a joint? restricted by contracture or fibrosis.
? Use light isometric Muscle Energy technique for intra-articular restriction
? Detect manipulable subluxations, and set them non-traumatically.
? Use adhesive tape for tarsal stabilization.
